The 2026 Australian Underwater Hockey National Championships have officially concluded! Hosted by NSW Underwater Hockey, this year’s tournament took us to the sun-drenched Gold Coast. While the venue offered world-class facilities, the sweltering Queensland heat tested the endurance of every athlete, official, and spectator poolside. Despite the humidity, the atmosphere was electric as the best in the country battled for gold.

Junior Divisions

Under 15s

Our youngest competitors showed incredible heart. In a highly competitive field, the NSW U15s secured 7th place. For many, this was their first taste of national-level competition, and the growth they showed in puck skills and positioning over the week was remarkable.

Under 19s (Open)

The NSW U19 Open team faced a tough bracket, ultimately finishing in 4th place. They fought through grueling round-robin stages and narrowly missed out on a podium spot, proving they are a force to be reckoned with in the years to come.

Under 19 Women

2026 marked the historic introduction of the U19 Women’s division. NSW is incredibly proud to have championed this new category. Our young women rose to the occasion, claiming 1st place and becoming the inaugural national champions of this division!

Junior Function & Turkey Selections: The Junior Function was a night of celebration and sportsmanship. A massive congratulations to those selected for the U19 World Championships held in Turkey; your hard work has paid off on the global stage.

Senior Divisions

Elite Open

In the premier division of the tournament, the NSW Elite Open team showcased high-speed tactical play. After a series of intense matches against powerhouse states, NSW finished in 4th place, demonstrating consistent growth and elite-level fitness.

Elite Women

The Elite Women’s division continues to be one of the most technical in the sport. The NSW women battled hard through the heat and the fatigue of a long week to secure 6th place overall.

Masters Open

Our Masters Open team proved that experience is a formidable weapon. Displaying excellent teamwork and grit, the NSW Masters Open squad secured a fantastic 2nd place, taking home the silver medal after a hard-fought final.

Masters Women

Another exciting addition this year was the Masters Women’s division. NSW embraced this new category with enthusiasm, fielding a strong team that secured 2nd place. It was inspiring to see the depth of talent and the competitive spirit of our veteran female players.

Senior Function & Turkey Selections: Following the Senior Function, the U24 World Championship selections for Turkey were announced. We are thrilled to see NSW well-represented in the national squads heading overseas.

A Community Effort

Events of this scale are impossible without the dedicated community behind the scenes. We extend a massive thank you to our volunteers, referees, coaches, managers, and officials. Your tireless work in the Gold Coast heat ensured the tournament ran smoothly and our players were supported every step of the way.
